Pastor’s Letter, May 28th, 2017: Memorial Day, Thank you and Welcome

Dear Parishioners,
Some months ago Joan Gerdon of the Women’s Association
approached me and said that it appeared that we did not have a nice
white Marian vestment. She said she had heard about a woman on
Whidbey Island who makes vestments, and the Woman’s Association, with help
from the Serra Club, would like to have one made for the parish. Joan wanted me
to go meet with this woman and pick out a design and fabric. The Marian vestment
was delivered two weeks ago, just in time for the celebration of the
centenary of Fatima.

I would like to thank the Women’s Association and Serra
Club for making this fine and beautiful handmade vestment possible. There is a
beautiful hand-painted inset on the front of the vestment of Mary and the Rosary,
a nice tribute to our Parish of Holy Rosary.
Some months ago after a search, I announced that we hired Ted Krembs as our
parish administrator. He will manage and supervise all administrative and facilities
aspects of our parish. Ted was originally to start July 1 but he is able to join
us earlier. We welcome him to our parish and pray his transition to Edmonds
from Reno will be smooth, and his time here with our parish a blessed experience.
He will be going back to Reno in mid-June for his daughter’s graduation
from 8th grade and to move his family to Edmonds.
This weekend is Memorial Day, a national holiday and a time to remember those
who died while serving in the US military. Since it is a holiday, Mass will be at
9am here at Holy Rosary and there will also be a Mass at Holyrood at 10:30am.

In Christ,
Father Vincent
