Preparation for a child's First Reconciliation and First Communion is a joint effort between parents and the parish. Parents guide their child through living the faith on a day to day basis and sharing their knowledge and experience of the sacraments. As the child grows closer to the age for sacraments the parish provides further direct preparation with the parents and child.
1) Two years of faith formation classes. These are either through the parish school or through the parish religious education program (parish religious ed info for fall 2020 will be available soon). If neither of these is an option for your family, a home school curriculum is available.
2) Attendance by at least one parent at the parish "The Search" (formerly Alpha) series. The Search is a seven week series that explores the Catholic faith and life's big questions to help you guide your children in faith. The Search will be offered twice a year at Holy Rosary beginning October 2020. If you have already completed Alpha, you do not also need to complete The Search. We anticipate both in person (if safe in regards to COVID) and remote options.
3) Participation of the First Communicant and at least one parent in our direct prep series. This is a hybrid of an online course that the parent and child will complete together and in person preparation at the Church. Please participate in a webinar for more details, including dates.
