Preparation for a child's First Reconciliation and First Communion is a joint effort between parents and the parish. Parents guide their child through living the faith on a day to day basis and sharing their knowledge and experience of the sacraments. As the child grows closer to the age for sacraments the parish provides further direct preparation with the parents and child.
1) Discernment and prayer of the child, parents, catechists and pastor considering when the final year of preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation & Eucharist should begin for each child, answering the question, "Is this my year?"
2) Two years of faith formation. These are either through the parish school or through the parish faith formation program.
3) Family completion of the Signs of Grace Workbooks for Reconciliation & Eucharist.
4) Attend two Family Preparation Sessions.
